Ось уже сотні років поспіль предметом захоплення сучасних людей були, є і будуть героїчні постаті далекого минулого . Цікавим прикладом цього є воїн Беовульф з англосаксонської епічної поеми «Беовульф». Метою даної статті є характеристика ідеального царя і воїна. Для досягнення мети дослідження ми повинні вирішити наступні завдання: 1) обговорити подібності та відмінності в концепції герочного епосу англо-саксонських часів і сучасності. 2) проаналізувати подібності та відмінності двох епічних героїв: Беовульфа і Артура. 3) дослідити, якими якостями Беовульфа  найбільше захоплюється його тогочасне суспільство.
